Last days of Autumn..

It is no secret Autumn is my favorite time to year.
Pretty much soaked up all I could.

Lots of hikes and time in the woods.

Backyard mushrooms..

..knitted mushrooms in the backyard.

Hint of snow on the trails and a bit of color still hanging on..

Getting lost..

Five dreamy days unplugged,
in a cabin,
hiking,
knitting,
and listening to the rain.

The solitude fuels my soul.

Pink Lily-of-the-Valley and the 'Wildheart' shawl.
The madder dyed yarn reminds me of the
damp pine needle hiking trails along the creek.

Dyeing up a few samples of Fustic, a tropical hardwood natural dye.
Lovely soft, clear yellows.
Soft peach after a dip in a exhausted madder root bath.

Outside always..

We spent Thanksgiving camping at our
favorite state park.

Deep, mossy, prehistoric woods.

Opting out of the hustle and
treasuring the holiday as its own.

Embracing gratitude.
Being thankful.. as we are.

Quiet.  Deep scents of pine that clear the mind
and refresh the soul.

Lots of hiking, knitting, rock picking,
red squirrel watching,
river walking, reading
and exploring natures treasures like
beaver chewed driftwood.

Hope that you all had a most lovely Thanksgiving.
