Chipping away..

This is where I've been for the past six months.

Slowly chipping away at the Level 1 Master Weaving Homework.

There is one paper and the final project left to go and I am
dyeing the warp for that today.
It pretty much took two days to figure out how
to get a 'random' stripe pattern.

Who knew random could be so hard?

After hours of fiddling with the Fibonacci Sequence and the help
of an on-line 'random stripe generator' I came up with something
that will work.  Six hues of the same color with all ends accounted for....check!

Also working on dyeing sample colors for a guild sheep-to-shawl warp.

Happy Sunday!

Via Instagram..

Trying a new application to get some photos to transfer from Instagram
over here to the blog.

Not so sure IFTTT is going to work for me.
If anyone out there has had luck with the app I'd love to
hear from you...

Desert Solitaire

"Wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit,
and as vital to our lives as water and good bread."
~Edward Abbey, Desert Solitaire

Sometimes you just need to be warm...and brown.

Listening to the wind through the Junipers.

The hummingbirds singing to you from the top of tree snags.

A chance converstation at a hotel desk led us to a fabulous hike.

Climbing deep into canyons following stream beds of *water*
we encountered beautiful desert waterfalls.

Knittering...

Saguaro, favorite haunts, and watching a bride arrive to
her ceremony in a helicoptor.

Studio time..

Lots of gray dreary days make for good working time in the studio.

This little guy has been keeping me company too.

I like to grab a cup of coffee, turn on the twinkle lights, and
watch the sun come up.

Chipping away on the master weaving homework.

Thinking I've managed the gradient weaving assignment...
at least I hope so!

(..come on lucky number 13..)

We are keeping a journal of our weaving progress.
It was really fun to go through past photos and see what inspires me.

Looking at everything side-by-side made me realize how much everyday
life seeps into my subconscious.

It made me chuckle when walking in the woods I came upon
the colors of yarn I had just ordered for the next exercise..

..wet pine and birch barks.

Last days of Autumn..

It is no secret Autumn is my favorite time to year.
Pretty much soaked up all I could.

Lots of hikes and time in the woods.

Backyard mushrooms..

..knitted mushrooms in the backyard.

Hint of snow on the trails and a bit of color still hanging on..
