Building a coverlet..

Top photo taken by Karen Parsons

The volunteers at The Depreciation Lands Museum hand spun the five
pounds of yarn in the top photo.

This yarn is to be hand woven into a coverlet for the cabin
on the property.

Yesterday Marilyn and I dyed all the yarns
in Indigo.

They turned out beautifully!

There are so many hands building this coverlet.
Can't wait to see it on the loom!

February

Cheering on Spring.

Knitting with my mentor's gorgeous hand spun yarn.
Perfect ear warmer for someone who can't get a hat over her bun of hair.

Catching up..

(Pattern: Sawtooth Shawlette via Ravelry)

The two ounce challenge has been finished..

The garden is in..

Getting back to the wheel..
I've missed it.

A friend and I volunteered through our LYS to demonstrate spinning for a farm who was
shearing sheep at a school downtown.

We were told to report to the local news station instead.
(**what??**)

They sheared.  We spun.

Getting back to the dye pots..
This one is for me.

One Hitchhiker coming up!

Yarn Along..

Reading and enjoying
Knitting Yarns: Writers on Knitting by Ann Hood

Knitting up some hand dyed, hand spun merino/silk
LOVE it all the way around ~ dreamy to spin
and wonderful to knit.  The silk makes it super soft
and gives the colors depth.

From the dye pot:

"Scottish Heather"

and

"Jellies" have flown the nest.

Loving "Joette'..

Starting a shawl class at the LYS this week featuring a
design from the shop owner.
Looking foreword to sharing it with you next week!

Have a most wonderful week!
Happy Knitting..

Yarn Along..

The Quaker Yarn Stretcher is coming along nicely..

...stretcheth...

I've used 3 different hand spun yarns in it so far and it has been
fun seeing the colors come together.

From the dye pot and blooming in the Etsy shop:

"Spring Tea Party"

"Hummingbird"

In these gray days of winter it feels so good to wrap
myself in color.

Wishing you all some winter cheer as we woke to
seven inches of snow today!

Morning Ply..

Taking the jumbo Lendrum plying head for a test drive this morning.
I've been trying to pack what I've plied on to the regular bobbin
and keep running out of room.

I was worried about taking the arm off the wheel to get the larger drive band on but it
was easy-peasy.  Now I just leave both bands on with one gathered below with
and elastic band.

Wishing you a most wonderful start to your week!
